Data best practices

This post from Stanford lists the following best practices for file management.

  1. Use descriptive and informative file names.
  2. Choose file formats that will ensure long-term access.
  3. Track different versions of your documents.
  4. Create metadata for every experiment or analysis you run.
  5. Find helpful tools for analyzing your data.
  6. Handle sensitive data in an appropriate manner.

Each of these applies to spreadsheet analysis.
