Treemaps can be very useful for visualizing data. Excel can produce these charts, but the functionality is not necessarily the best. So here are some resources for exploring how to build these kinds of charts:

Here’s a video that explains how to use an interesting site called Raw Density, for creating these, and many other kinds of charts. However, I found the site very easy to navigate on my own, so your 11 minutes may be better spent just playing around there.
